National Veterans Day Foundation

In 1947, our Founder, Raymond Weeks, led a delegation to Washington, D.C., to urge then-Army Chief of Staff General Dwight Eisenhower to create a national holiday that honored all veterans. On November 11, 1947, the first Veterans Day Parade in the nation was held in Birmingham, Alabama.  In 1954, President Eisenhower signed legislation establishing November 11th as Veterans Day.

Both the Parade and the National Veteran’s Awards Dinner are made possible through the generous donations of hundreds of patriotic Americans like you. For a $100 donation, your name will be run in the credits on our live feed of the parade and also listed on our website. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, all donations to the National Veterans Day Foundation are tax deductible.

Click on the "Give Now" button on the right and Help Us Honor Our Veterans.  There is a $5 minimum donation.
